A Kiss Good-Bye

Dear Sweet Daisy. I don’t think you can ever know what an honor it was to have known and loved you. My heart is so warmed that you even knew us, much less loved us. But you did! In your amazing way, you told us… many times, in so many ways. Like the time you wimpered in delight when we arrived at your palace at McGregor Mountain Lodge. It was only our 3rd visit, yet your little tail wagged with such a familiar “happy” that my heart completely melted! Of course you buried your head between my knees with your special “Daisy hug” that said, “I’m so happy to see you! I love you!” The recognition in your eyes and voice were unmistakable, and it meant so much! But it was when you raced out ahead of us and waited for us on the porch of Cabin 10A where we had entertained you last that my heart fell forever — hopelessly bonded — in love with our McGregor Brown Bear. Thank you for your friendship! It was as rewarding, if not more, than the mountains and trails that drew us there. And it certainly was a huge part of what made our trips to Colorado special!

I remember the mornings that we were awakened by your bark at our door. You waited there expectantly for an invitation to come in and sleep at our feet by the fire for a while. Oh what a precious way to start our day! And Oh how I wish those days would never have to end!

My comfort is believing with all my heart that you are running and playing again. FREE — from all the pain that too many years on this fallen earth had given you. And I believe that we who loved you will see you again. And THANKFULLY, it will be in a place so sweet that there will be no more separations, no more tears, and no more good-bye’s. Missing you so much now makes me long for that place!

Until then…. please know, sweet girl, that for everyone who has loved you (and there are so many!) we will see you and feel you everywhere — forever — at McGregor Mountain Lodge! The grounds where you romped are forever hallowed with your amazing spirit. And tho the loss is immeasurable, we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Love & kisses to our big sweet and loving brown friend forever!

Our friend, Dixie (a/k/a DeeCeeM) like so many others, loving our big brown friend!

About Sandy

I'm Sandy Powers, full-time photographer, doing what I love with my life! My passion is PEOPLE! There is such artistry in people, and I love capturing it: in fine art portraiture, in weddings, or even in a stunning landscape. I recently watched an interview with Kim Walker, a well-known Christian worship leader. What she said resonated with me and pretty much describes my own story. She said, "I didn't have to force things to happen. I didn't have to push. I didn't have to overly promote myself or call people and beg them to hire me. In fact, I didn't have to do anything except keep my eyes on Jesus and watch Him bring my destiny to me." That's how I feel. I walk each day by faith, and my eyes are on Him! I have watched in amazement as He has orchestrated circumstance to bring my destiny to me. I thank Him daily for allowing me to not only do what I love, but to use what I love to bless others! So, how is "the destiny" unfolding? Well. . . . My work was juried into a museum exhibit at the Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University, I have been featured in Outdoor Photographer Magazine, my portraiture and fine art have won several international awards, and I currently have the great honor of being a member of a fine art gallery called Perspectives Gallery of Art where my photography is displayed and sold to the public. Also, one of my portraits was recently selected by an Adobe Lightroom blog as one of the top 50 most stunning black and white photos. Anything else??? Send me a note (Sandy@SandyP.net)! I LOVE meeting new people, sharing my story, and best of all, documenting the magic moments in your life so that the fairy tale can stay alive forever!
